Os 50 livros favoritos de Nick Cave

Nick Cave compilou uma lista dos seus 50 livros favoritos, lista à qual o artista chamou «um saco de agarrar sem forma e incoerente». De “Moby Dick” a “A Good Man is Hard to Find”, passando por “Complete Poems”, de Edward Estlin Cummings, há de tudo um pouco. Nick Cave publicou no seu website um boletim informativo regularmente actualizado, intitulado “Red Hand Files”, no qual Cave foi questionado por um fã se «consideraria compilar uma lista de 40 livros de que mais gosta».

Em resposta, o autor de “The Boatman’s Call” escreveu: «Normalmente, para responder a esta pergunta, iria simplesmente às minhas estantes e escolheria 40 livros. No entanto, as minhas estantes estão completamente vazias. Os mais de 5000 livros que acumulei ao longo dos anos foram enviados para a Biblioteca Real Dinamarquesa, em Copenhaga. Fazem agora parte da exposição “Stranger Than Kindness”, uma exposição completamente estonteante», continuando: «Sem a minha biblioteca à frente, é um pouco difícil reunir uma lista completa dos meus 40 livros mais queridos. O melhor que posso fazer é juntar um saco de títulos sem forma e incoerente que me vem à mente neste momento e que, por uma razão ou outra, tenho amado ao longo dos anos».

Aqui ficam não os 40 – «Acho que me deixei levar», brincou Cave -, mas os 50 livros favoritos, como o próprio artista de 62 anos refere, «sem nenhuma ordem em particular»:
