Jeff Beck foi um dos músicos mais importantes a definir o som da guitarra no Rock e naturalmente são muitos os que prestaram uma homenagem sentida nas redes sociais.
Jeff Beck é considerado um dos melhores guitarristas de sempre. Faleceu no passado dia 10 de Janeiro de 2023, vítima de uma meningite bacteriana.
Nascido no dia 24 de Junho de 1944, Jeff Beck é um dos guitarristas mais underrated de sempre e um dos últimos grandes heróis da guitarra que ainda estava entre nós. Guitarrista de técnica absolutamente singular, deslumbrou o mundo ainda antes da explosão do hard rock, há mais de meio século.
Beck saltou para a ribalta quando entrou nos The Yardbirds em 1965, para ocupar o lugar vago deixado por Eric Clapton. Permaneceu na banda cerca de 20 meses, mas foi o tempo suficiente para gravar alguns dos seus maiores hits como “Over Under Sideways Down” e “Shapes Of Things.”
Desde o R&B dos The Yardbirds ao Jeff Beck Group com Ronnie Wood e Rod Stewart, passando pela obra-prima de jazz/rock instrumental “Blow By Blow” de 1975, produzido por George Martin, e um infindável número de aparições como músico convidado (Mick Jagger, Roger Waters, Brian May, Paul Rodgers, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Jon Bon Jovi) ou até uma ou outra incursão em blockbusters de Hollywood, Jeff Beck estava constantemente a explorar e a fazer progredir a sua linguagem musical e a da guitarra eléctrica, mais especificamente da Stratocaster.
Recentemente tinha editado “18”, um álbum em conjunto com Johnny Depp e colaborado no álbum a solo de Ozzy Osbourne, “Patient Number 9”.
As redes sociais encheram-se de vários tributos a Jeff Beck, principalmente dos grandes nomes clássicos do rock como Robby Krieger, Ozzy e Tony Iommi, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, Ronnie Wood ou Mick Jagger passando por Jack White, Steve Vai, Nile Rodgers, Mike Portnoy, Tom Morello, Billy Gibbons ou Jon Bon Jovi. I met Jeff Beck when I was 17 and I was glad to know a guy like that, a guy who was able to show me how this guitar playing thing should be approached and that’s still very much the case. Jeff was a wondrous soul and we already miss him tremendously.
