Entre 1996 e 2016, Kobe Bryant tornou-se uma lenda da NBA e um dos maiores atletas de sempre. O basquetebolista cumpriu toda a sua carreira profissional nos Los Angeles Lakers, cumprindo um total de 1346 jogos e 33643 pontos. Kobe Bryant perdeu a vida no dia seguinte a ter sido ultrapassado por LeBron James (também pelos Lakers) como terceiro melhor marcador da história da NBA.
Kobe Bryant deslocava-se, acompanhado pela sua filha Gianna, de helicóptero. O aparelho despenhou-se numa montanha na zona de Las Virgenes Road, na manhã de domingo. Bryant, a filha, o piloto e outros seis passageiros perderam a vida no acidente. Bryant tinha apenas 41 anos, a sua filha 13.
