E uma breve cronologia do Rock n’ Roll

Alex Chadwick, gestor de vendas na Chicago Music Exchange, e o seu patrão David Kalt perguntaram-se quantos riffs de guitarra conseguiriam ser tocados de uma só vez. O resultado foi um vídeo que prova que é possível tocar uma centena, e que também serve como uma breve cronologia do rock.

Chadwick e Kalt juntaram-se e reviram as tabelas de êxitos de 1953 a 2011, e criaram uma setlist que pretendia ser, nas palavras Chadwick “uma breve história do rock n’ roll“.

Alex não tem a certeza de quantos takes foram necessários para completar o feito. “Talvez uns três ou quatro,” comenta Chadwick. “Demorámos uma tarde a filmar isto. Houve alguns erros – derrubei o slide de cima de um amplificador ou algo do género – mas antes que desse conta, tinha tudo debaixo de dedos. E estava feito!”

O rig escolhido para contar esta história foi um amplificador Fender ’57 Tweed Deluxe Reissue e uma Strat ’58. “Sou homem de Strat’s. É impressionante a quantidade de sons que se consegue sacar de uma,” diz Alex sobre o setup.

É certo que a resposta à pergunta “Quais os riffs mais reconhecíveis da história do rock?” depende sempre de quem está a responder. Mas não deixa de ser uma performance admirável conseguir tocar 100 desses riffs de uma só vez.

À pergunta óbvia de para quando 200 riffs de uma vez, Alex Chadwick declara com uma gargalhada “Chegámos a pensar no assunto, mas vou fazer uma pausa por uns tempos. Tocar 100 riffs é muito mais difícil do que se possa imaginar.”
